Day 7 - Engine and Birds

Todd Ellis |

Greeted today by a visiting guest trying to land on the pushpit.

He touched down and then had second thoughts. Floated back out to circle the sails a few times. Before flying off to new adventures.

Never a welcome moment when an alarm goes off whether it’s an AIS tracking oncoming vessels (we have our AIS set for three miles ) or an engine light indicating problems with the cooling.

After taking the engine raw water cooling system apart and checking the impeller hoses and filter we determined it might just be air entering the system.  Thus impacting the impeller's capability to draw water to cool down the engine.

Once up and running and we were back in business and just in time to motor through 8-10 foot swells and a headwind through the night.
